Otherfest

Otherfest is the Mississippi Delta’s only music festival that features original, Independent music from local and regional artists!! 

The festival offers a mixture of musical genres ranging from singer-songwriter, rock, pop, punk, and jazz fusion. 

Otherfest 7 will be Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at the 40+ acre festival grounds of The River Resort in Rosedale, MS.

Camping is included for the night on golf course festival grounds. 

Parking will be on the golf course, but is limited so pack in, kids… and bring your tents, your coolers, and your friends, and come spend a Saturday with us at Mississippi’s Otherfest. 

Rules: Enjoy yourself. Support Original Music. 

Bring your own coolers… but for those who forget we will have beer and food available for purchase at the festival along with Otherfest shirts and band merchandise so plan ahead… there’s no atm on these festival grounds. 

*This is an all ages event and we will have Security at the festival. Unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten.

OTHERFEST LINEUP 2012CONFIRMED: Amalgamation Over the past four years Amalgamation has revived the creative element of the Mississippi Delta in the unexpected manifestation of jazz and rock.The term Amalgamation reflects the band members’ wide range of musical styles that combine to create their unmistakable sound. The motley members contribute Jazz, Rock, Blues, and Pop influences that fuse to form a new and interesting amalgam of sound. Amalgamation’s music is edgy and complex, spanning dynamically from whispering pianos to screaming fortes. Although there are centralized concepts and melodies, the band’s original compositions are expressively based around group and individual improvisation. The spontaneous nature of their music makes each performance engaging, exciting and uniquely different from the next. The band has cultivated their art in such a manner to allow them to reach listeners of all walks of life who have embraced the unlikely, yet passionate sound of this intrepid ensemble. In just the four years of the band’s existence, Amalgamation has released their debut EP “Therefore” (2009) and recently recorded their forthcoming full-length album “Factual Reality” (Spring 2012). Callay! returns for another Otherfest.  With a sound that can only be described as a gritty raucous of uplifting southern noise pop, Callooh! Callay! exudes live energy that is force to reckoned with.  Propelled with a youthful energy and an obvious joy, Callooh! Callay!’s live show can only be described as one that comes close to that of a religious experience. Give them a listen on bandcamp!
